4th of July Cocktail

4th of July Cocktails with Caro

Being from Argentina, and vacationing in Brazil a lot, our go to summer cocktail is the Caipirinha, a light drink made with Brazilian rum that’s derived from sugarcane and lime juice.  It’s refreshing, and simple, and reminds us of home.  Even better?  It can easily be made more festive for 4th of July parties.  Add blueberries and strawberries as a garnish, or muddled with the lime juice, for a red, white & blue theme.

This is the classic recipe, and one we’ll be using all summer long.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. cachaça
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 old-fashioned glass
  •

Directions

  1. Slice the lime into 1/2-inch rounds, cube them, and muddle them in an Old-Fashioned glass or small tumbler with sugar.
  2. Add ice (cubed or lightly crushed).
  3. Pour in the cachaça.
  4. Serve with a stirring rod or festive straw.
